PGDM (DE) – A management program with a unique blend of distance and classroom learning
PGDM (DE) is an innovative industry oriented management program to bring quality management education within easy reach of deserving aspirants who cannot join full-time campus programs due to professional and/or personal commitments. It is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become superior management professionals and thereby gain a stronghold in the industry.
Program Structure:
1. Pedagogy
The programme is designed to impart intensive knowledge and skills in the basic and functional areas of management. It is meant for all age group individuals who are working as middle/junior level executives/officers in public or private sector / organizations, but have not had an opportunity to acquire formal management education. ICME offers specialization in all functional areas of management like Marketing, Finance and Human Resource Management etc. The curriculum is a result of not only benchmarking with world class institutes but also of conscious and continuous innovation. It imparts a strong sense of purpose; at the same time equips students to deal with issues and organizational problems in a realistic environment. It imparts learning that transcends boundaries of time, function, industry and culture.
2. Teaching Methodology
The faculty at ICME uses a mix of various teaching pedagogy to make the best of the learning process. At the same time it is expected that students must take initiative in search of knowledge, challenging them to think about issues outside the textbooks and encouraging them to construct their own bridges to tackle various real life problems. Various methods used are:
- Self-instructional printed course material packages
- Assignments for assessment and feedback
- Supporting audio-video programmes
- Face-to-face interaction with academic counselors at Study Centers or at work centers depending on programme requirement
- Practicals at designated institutions
- Project Work in some courses
- Work-related field project/Functional assignments as per programme requirements
- Simulations etc.
3. Course Material
Learning materials are prepared by teams of experts drawn from conventional universities; management institutions and professionals from all over the country and in-house faculty.. Similarly audio and video programmes are produced in consultation with the course writers, in-house faculty and producers. These materials are previewed and reviewed by the faculty as well as outside experts and edited or modified wherever necessary before they are dispatched to the Study Centers.
Printed material is supplied directly to the students at the addresses supplied by them and their cost is covered in the programme fee. Audio/Video programmes are made available at the Study Centers where Audio/Video playing equipment is also available.
4. Eligibility
Graduation in any discipline from any UGC recognized University or AICTE.
5. Course Overview
Duration of the programme is two and Half year spread across 5 semester of 18 weeks each. There are 6 courses in each semester of 60 study hours each.
Study hours include self-study, face to face tutorials, Audio Visual Study, Assignments, Case Studies, Quizzes, Examination.
